Beginners question on basics

I have a special project in which I need to populate a pre-formatted .docx with data stored in MySQL database.  My question is can I save the .docx as a .htm and then modify this to accommodate TBS aspect?

TBS alone can merge an HTML template. You can build your HTML template by converting a DOCX to HTML but TBS cannot do this conversion, and Ms Word does a nasty a bold DOCX to HTML conversion.

TBS + OpenTBS can merge a DOCX template.
