Questions about TBS

Hello!

I have the following case of use for OpenTBS. I work at a school and, to make life easier for us and also have more security with our students, we have been using OpenTBS to generate some of our tests "on-the-go".

We want to expand its use and now we feel like generating every one of our tests through OpenTBS. We have it working just fine inside our Intranet and we have no problem generating only a few of the tests for a said student. But, since we will be generating tests for about 2k students that would pose a problem. My question is pretty simple. Say, I have a list of these students. Can I generate a test for every one of these students? Let's put it into an example:

I have read that I can't merge two DOCX as of now, but then let's say I do the following: I "create" the test with our GUI, feed it the students list and have it generate all the tests into a single file, but repeating it for every student, like this:

Isabelle Bueh
Tim Bleh
Victoria Blah

Is it possible? Thanks in advance for your time and an awesome plugin!

Re: Questions about TBS

Hi,

I'm not sure to understand your example, but you actually can have one docx template, that is expended for your 2k students. For example: one page per student, or one paragraph per student.

Re: Questions about TBS

Thanks for your reply!

My concern is the following: We have many classes, as in Arts, English, Math

I need to generate the tests for these classes for our students. That's where my doubt is. Can I feed TBS a list of names and have it Generate the tests?

I hope the following makes it easier to understand:

Inside one file, the tests of Arts, English and Math for:
Isabelle Bueh
Tim Bleh
Victoria Blah

Re: Questions about TBS

It seems simple. Can you draw an example of what result you're expecting ?

Re: Questions about TBS

The result would be somewhat like what is on the following file.

Re: Questions about TBS

This is a simple "per-page" merging.
The docx example provided with the OpenTBS furniture show such an example.

OpenTBS 1.8.0 which is in beta version, very stable, gives more facilities for such merging. A new example is also provided with the pack.

Re: Questions about TBS

Yes, you are right. I didn't take a good-enough look at the DOCX example.

I've got other question tho. It seems simple for a single page, but what if the tests is two or more pages long? Is it going to merge and break normally to the next one?

Going to take a look at the beta for OpenTBS 1.8.0 and see what's new. Thanks for all the quick replies so far!

Yes. Ms Word adapts the number of pages to the length of the contents. This can make extra pages, or maybe less pages if the content is shorter than the template. But it keeps manual page break.
